AdBlue® is a diesel exhaust fluid used explicitly in diesel-powered vehicles with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) from the exhaust gas of diesel engines. Each batch mixed comprises a 32.5% blend of high-purity, synthetically manufactured urea in high-purity water, offering a clear, non-toxic liquid that is safe to handle without damaging the environment.
It's a common misconception that urea is strictly urine. False. The urea used in AdBlue® is made by heating synthetic ammonia and carbon dioxide. It is then added to de-ionised water to create AdBlue®
SCR stands for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), a technology that reduces the nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from diesel engines' exhaust gas. It works by injecting EuroBlue (the product of Australia's most stringent VDA licensed manufacturer and AdBlue® supplier, DPG Australia) through a unique catalyst into the exhaust stream of a diesel engine.
The SCR system contains four integral components:
-
SCR catalyst
-
AdBlue® fluid injection unit
-
AdBlue® tank
-
AdBlue® injection control unit
